3 Days of Filming for KPF

Earlier this year, I had the opportunity to collaborate with KPF (Kohn Pedersen Fox), one of the world’s leading architectural firms, on the production of two films for their YouTube channel in Japan.

The collaboration began when KPF’s team in New York reached out through my website. They were looking for someone based in Japan who could not only direct the filming process, but also understand the specific requirements of architectural projects and help coordinate production locally.

For KPF, having a local partner familiar with architecture proved particularly valuable. I was responsible for many aspects of the production process, including crew coordination, equipment rentals, transportation, hotel bookings, scheduling, site access, and communication with the various stakeholders involved in each project.

Quick Event Covering for OMA

A few days before the opening event, I was contacted by OMA New York to document the completion of the renovation of the Tokyo Edo Museum in Tokyo. The assignment included both architectural photography and video production, covering the project itself as well as the official opening event.

The objective was twofold: to create a visual record of the completed architecture before public access and to capture the opening ceremony attended by project stakeholders, architects, and public officials, including the Governor of Tokyo. Given the limited timeframe and the communication requirements surrounding the launch, the project required careful preparation and a fast production schedule.

As a video director and architectural photographer, I was responsible for documenting the architecture while overseeing the overall visual coverage of the event throughout the day.

4 Shootings at The Osaka Expo 2025

Expo 2025 Osaka became a large part of my work throughout 2025, leading to several photography and filmmaking commissions for different clients and 4 pavilions across the site.

Being able to work inside the Expo before its public opening was such unique experience. Spending more than a week immersed in this massive international event provided a rare opportunity to witness the final stages of construction, installation, and preparation before visitors would eventually walk through the gates.

Those projects also offered an opportunity to work on a larger scale than many of my previous assignments, managing several commissions simultaneously while balancing different creative visions, production schedules, and client expectations.

Working back with SFA

I recently completed two architectural films commissioned by the Utzon Center in Denmark as part of an exhibition dedicated to the work of Sou Fujimoto.

The exhibition presents a series of Fujimoto’s delicate wireframe models and drawings suspended throughout the gallery space, offering visitors an immersive introduction to his architectural thinking. As part of the exhibition, the curatorial team commissioned a set of architectural films to accompany the physical models and provide a more direct experience of several built projects.

Having previously documented a number of Fujimoto’s works, I was invited to produce new films of two of his most significant projects: the Musashino Art University Library in Tokyo and the Shiroiya Hotel in Maebashi.

Unlike many architectural films created for online audiences, these videos were designed specifically for exhibition viewing. Displayed on a large-format screen measuring approximately three meters wide, the films run continuously on a loop, allowing visitors to engage with the architecture at their own pace. The objective was not to create fast-paced promotional content, but rather a slower and more contemplative experience focused on atmosphere, materiality, light, and space.
